Very Smart

Jenna is getting to be such a smart little girl!  She knows all of her body parts now.  She easily identifies eye, ear, nose, chin, neck, head, hair, elbow, thumb, finger, shoulder, belly, boobs, butt, knee, foot, and toes.  She can identify all the parts as well as call them by name.  We started working on this while I would sit and breastfeed Shelby.
She also has started singing a couple songs.  She knows the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as well as Pat - a - cake.

treehouse

One week ago Tuesday night, we had some really strong storms.  I think most of the state of Indiana got some strong storms.  I have heard there were multiple tornados confirmed throughout the state.  I woke up a little before 11:30 to a pretty wicked storm.  At 11:48 I heard a loud crack.  I figured that the Tulip tree had come down on the house.  When I woke up, I figured out that I was correct!

We are very fortunate to only have suffered minor damage.  There was only one small puncture hole, on the back porch.  The yard substained the most damage.  The tractor made several ruts and there are are an abundance of cleat marks all over the yard now.  However, we escaped, unharmed...and for that we thank God!

Joined Forces

Evidently, the Tooth Fairy joined forces with the Easter Bunny for Shelby this year.  We believe that between Saturday evening and Easter Sunday morning Shelby got her first tooth.  This new bottom tooth has been a long time coming.  Several of us thought it was odd that at 10 months old, she was still toothless.  I suspect that she will have her second bottom tooth before long!

A Mess

It seems we have been on the road and busy every weekend lately.  We were excited when we discovered that neither of us really had anything planned for Sunday!  We got up and all got ready for church, went to church and came home.  After lunch, I was itching to get outside.  Cabin fever has been horrible!  We were walking around in the yard, looking at the blackberry plants, the hot bed with my growing vegetable plants for the garden, the land scaping that Lance did last week, and the brush pile we burnt a few weekends ago.

While out in the yard, I happend across a couple of mushrooms!

This inspired us to go seek out more mushrooms.

While we were out, we found several small white flowers,
as well as a few small purple flower...
We also found a MESS of MUSHROOMS!
That count ended up somewhere around 45 during this hunt.  We went out to another spot and found about 20 more later.  We had them for supper tonight and they were delicious!

Shelby Leigh

As I mentioned in my earlier blog, I got an idea for a photo opportunity.  I took Shelby out under the tree just to see if I could get any pictures of Miss Shelby.  These are my 9 favorites out of the 80 some that I took.

I love the attitude in this picture!

 Grabbin at the flowers!

I threw a hand full of petals, then I got a look!

 Actally, I got several looks.

Mommy, these petals don't taste very good!

There's a grin from my happy girl!

I think this is my favorite one, pure giggles!

Workin' Outside

Saturday morning it stormed and we got quite a bit of rain.  Lance was a little disappointed because he was really wanting to push up some brush piles and do some grade work on the tile lines we had installed late last fall.

Since everything was so wet we went into town Sunday late morning to pick out a new microwave.  We went into H H Gregg, the store where the multiple appliances and electronics for the Hofmann household have been purchased.  While we were there we ventured into the scratch and dent room.  Lance happened upon the pedistools that were intended for my LG front load washer and dryer!  We were very pleased, we purchased the stools for 1/3 of the original price!  He even installed them on Sunday night!

When we got home from town, Lance went over and borrowed a tractor from Ivan & Angel.  He managed to get everything done in the evening that he had set out to do.  He got the tile graded prior to the rain that we got Sunday night and all day Monday.
While Lance was piling brush and grading, the girls were napping and I got to do some work outside.  I split my hosta plants that my Mom had given me 5 years ago and made multiple more plants.  I also cleaned up my hosta bed.  There was nothing really to take pictures of, as the hostas were still very small when I divided them.  While outside I thought I would take a picture of my magnolia tree.  It is such a pretty tree when it blooms.

As I was taking picutes of my pretty tree, I got an idea.... see my next post, scheduled to appear later this evening!

Visiting Baby Mattison

Saturday afternoon we headed south.  I knew we had 2 offers on the house and I knew I needed to get the house cleaned out.  We still had enough stuff there to be a poor hotel... a bed, shower curtain & minimal bathroom supplies, and a touch of food.  My mom and dad swang through on their way home to help us get loaded out.  We really appreciated their help, because there was more there than we realized and they ended up taking some home in the bed of their truck to help us out.

After we packed up the house, Lance, Jenna, Shelby and I went over to visit the Schenk Family.  We got to meet Miss Mattison!  Uncle Lance logged a little baby time...
and I was holding her while taking this picture
Jenna even held Mattison.  I didn't get any pictures, because I had to help her hold the baby.  As for Shelby, she wasn't too interested in Mattison, all she wanted to do was pull her hairbow and her hair.  I am sure they will be good playmates, just as soon as she is not so fragile!

Jenna climbed up in the chair and was checking out the Easter Bunny.  Lance grabbed the camera to capture a wonderful photo opportunity.
These pictures are aweful small, but their facial expressions are priceless.
Hopefully when Carla gets her pictures to where they will stay on her blog, she will share a few more pictures of our visit!

Pending

We have been trying to sell our house in Newburgh for a while now.  I am happy to say that today, our house went PENDING in the MLS system.  We had a verbal offer from a couple in February and their buyer fell through, which meant our buyer fell through.  Last week we got 2 offers on the house within 12 hours of each other.  We came to terms yesterday afternoon and should have the house SOLD by June 1.

This is a happy time and a wierd time.  We are happy that we will only be making one residential mortgage payment!  It is a wierd time, too.  This will be the first time in the almost 8 years Lance and I have known each other that we will only have one place.  We are very excited and are looking forward to closing day.  Now we just have to cross our fingers and pray a little bit more until closing!

Rub a dub dub

Lance was working late and both the girls needed to bathe.  I decided Shelby was big enough to take a bath in the tub with Jenna.   Needless to say, Shelby was not a fan!
Jenna had a ball and played in the tub for almost an hour.  Shelby got her bath and went to bed.  We will have to try again another time.
