We're in the Home Stretch!

The house project seemed to really move and make progress quickly.  Since the drywall has been up, it seems to me like the house hasn't hardly moved.  I realize the detail work they are doing now takes longer and is harder to see progress, but it seems like the end is really dragging out.

Over the weekend, Lance and I installed the shelving in the coat closet, master closet, and pantry.  We got shelving cut for the linen closet and the basement bedroom.

The painting is complete upstairs and all but the concrete wall downstairs.  The trim is all stained and have been polyurethane coated.  It will be installed this week.  The heating crew finished the heating/cooling unit in the addition.  The plumber is supposed to finish up this week.  Carpet is coming on Tuesday.  I am hoping that by Thursday of next week we will be able to say we are done!  I am super excited...we are in the home stretch!

Addition

Most of my posts titled addition are in regards to the house...but not this one!
Lance and I are excited to announce that we are making an addition to our family in 2013.  We are expecting our third child!  Baby Hofmann #3 will join us sometime around July 23, 2013.  Tuesday I went to the doc to hear the heartbeat and was happy to hear 160 beats per minute.  It was especially neat, because the doc got both my heartbeat and the baby's heartbeat on the monitor at the exact same time.

We are now 14 weeks and into our second trimester.  This pregnancy has been pretty easy, just as the other two were.  My college roommate, Sarah, just used this comic to reveal she is expecting I thought it was cute and I would copycat!

I was curious what the girls heart rates were the first time we hear them with the girls.  Jenna was listed as 164 on the initial blog reveal, Shelby aka Delta was not listed in my initial blog reveal.  Nonetheless, we are excited to see what adventure this addition brings into our lives!

Sensory Experience (updated with pictures)

This house project has turned into a major sensory experience.  It seems as if each day a new sense gets triggered.

The sights are changing.  The walls are getting paint!
The sounds are drills, hammers, voices, and many more!
The smells have become extrememly noticable!  They started staining trim today.  It is a contest between the plumber and the trim guy as to who has made the house the most fragrant!
The new flooring textures make us all want to try out the new flooring surfaces in the house.
The progress makes me salivate!  We are so close to being done I can taste it!

Sickies & Paint

We have had several bouts with illness since the start of the year.  We all got the 24 hour bug that went around causing dina-reah (spelling is for my mom and sis) and vomiting.  We got over that and got back at it to get knocked out by a viral infection and the flu.  Everyone around the house still has the coughs and sniffles, but is believed to be on the mend.

At this point, hoping for a quiet day around the house to get over being ill has been a challenge.  Continued progress is being made around the house.  We have making good progress since the first of the year.  The furnace is hooked up and functional.  The garage doors openers are up and mine is functional (we only had one extension cord and my opener was the closest to a working electrical outlet).  The mudder's got done and finished sanding.  Randy came in and plastered all the ceilings.  They look amazing!  The primer has been painted on everything as well as a first coat of paint upstairs and have worked on the second coat within most of the house and finished the second coat inside the garage.  The flooring guy came yesterday and cut concrete board for the ceramic tile and laid the base for the linoleum flooring.

I appologize for a lack of pictures.  It is hard to get good pictures of paint and ceilings and things when it is dark every night when I get home and I only have 4 light bulbs that are functioning in the whole addition.  My camera flash is good, but..... you'll have to wait until another day for pix.

More Christmas

Gumbel Christmas for the longest time was held the weekend between Christmas and New Years, unless the holidays falled on weekends and then it was at the host's descression.  Since there was a weekend between Christmas and New Years, we were planning to get together on Dec 28 at Grandma Gumbel's for Christmas.  However, the weather was predicted to be nasty so Christmas got postponed to the first weekend of 2013.

I didn't get out the camera and take any photos of the group.  The four Gumbel kids and their spouses were present.  There are seven grandkids, but only three of us were able to attend.  There are eleven great-grandkids and only four were present.  Needless to say, numbers were down a little this year.  Nonetheless, we got together and enjoyed socializing before going about our own directions.

My mom and dad were nice enough to take Jenna and Shelby home with them so that Lance and I could do a little shopping in Evansville.  We were needing to get faucets, bathroom hardware, and other miscellaneous things for the house addition.  We also needed to pick up my wedding bands which were re-sized and worked.

Sunday we celebrated Christmas with Mom & Dad, Carla, Christa and families.  I took several pictures, but Blogger isn't cooperating to attach them at the moment.  Jenna and Shelby have been having lots of fun with their new Snap & Style dolls.  I like the fact that they are not naked dolls laying around the house!

Smearing Mud and Getting Plastered

No worries, this is a rated G post!  Things have been rather calm around here lately.  I wanted to post progress about the house, but hate to keep titling my post "Progess".  What has been going on around here lately?  Beyond Christmas and the New Year, the mudders have finished smearing mud and finished sanding today.  YAY for drywall dust....or not.
They have completely mudded around the entry-way and sanded that area as well.
Today, Randy (Lance's cousin) started plastering the ceilings.  This is my kitchen ceiling as it has been for several years.  He is in the process of starting to do this to the rest of the house.
He finished the basement bedroom and bathroom today.  Sorry the picture isn't great, it's hard to take a good picture of a white ceiling with a flash at 6pm in a room without a working light.
We have also installed a 2 foot wall around the rafters in the basement
to keep the insulation in and the kids out.
Speaking of the kids, they love having the extra space to run around in.  Their favorite game at the moment is hide and seek!
