Kids + Cats

Jenna is ABSOLUTELY in love with her kittens.  Fortunately they all came from homes that had kids, so they have been good with the kids!

First lesson with Kittens, do NOT pick them up by their neck, pick them up by their belly.

They all just let Jenna drag them around as she wishes.
This is when they came home.  Shelby didn't know what to think of the kittens.  All week she has been terrified of the kittens.  This weekend she is starting to finally warm up to them.
Shelby and Socks (I love this picture)
They move faster than Shelby, but she kept going around checking them out!

New Addition to the Family

Lance and I have been talking for a while now about how we felt like somethine was missing from our family.  Last Saturday, Lance and Jenna went after something we felt would be a good, new addition to our family.... KITTENS!

There are 2 that look identical to this one, so this is Smokey and the other is Bandit, they are not the friendliest of the bunch.

Lil' Miss Independence

Shelby still only has 2 teeth, but insists on eating whatever is on the table.  If I try to feed her baby food, this is what happens....

Little Miss Independence insists on feeding herself!

She is getting to hard to feed baby food, so we have officially graduated!  Finger foods along with the occasional apple sauce or mashed potatoes that we have along with our meal.  We haven't quite graduated from the bottle, but we are getting closer!

First Birthday Pictures

I took Shelby into Evansivlle when we were down farming with my parents.  Portrait Innovations took 96 pictures, all of which were pretty good!

I love these pictures, she is so comfortable!
None of the 1 pictures were that great...mostly because she wanted to lean on it.
This is my absolute favorite picture!
Sticking her tongue out at someone....
I thought I might use a prop for the pictures.  She loves her bear, which was evident, but the pictures just weren't print worthy.

Swimmin'

Over the weekend, we traveled south to farm with the Rentchlers.  Carla brought Ciara's pool along and we let the girls splash around together.  Miss Shelby was just being a ham all weekend!
Jenna and Ciara splashed and splashed and splashed while Shelby just watched.
Every little girl needs a mohawk...at least once in their life!
The cousins enjoyed the pool all at one time.  It seemed a little crowded!
I thought this picture was just precious!
The girls definately had fun playing and splashing around together on Saturday!

12 mo well child

Thursday afternoon I took Shelby to the doctor's office for her 12 month well child visit.  She was starting to get moody, because I scheduled it during her nap time.... Silly Mommy.

Shelby now weighs 19 pounds 8 ounces and is 28 inches long.  She falls below the 25th percentile for both weight and height.  She still only has her two bottom teeth, but is working hard on more.  The doctor's office was pleased with her progress.

She also recieved 2 vaccinations while she was there.  She gave the nurses some evil looks before she started crying.  Fortunately, she only cried for a few moments.  We are blessed to have a happy healthy little girl!

Shelby's First Birthday

Miss Shelby celebrated her first birthday today.  My o my how the time does fly.  We celebrated her birthday with Mommy, Daddy and Jenna this evening.  After supper, we enjoyed cupcakes.  I sat Shelby's cupcake with candle in front of her while I went to get a lighter, and I came back to her licking the candle!
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Shelby, happy birthday to you!
She mostly just ate the icing.
Or should I say, wore the icing!
After we cleaned up from dinner and cupcakes, we had presents to open.  Miss Shelby is standing and crusing like crazy, but she still hasn't got enough courage to let go and walk.
Shelby got a few Chuck toys, this is a semi and race car.
She also got a couple John Deere tractors.
She immediately started couch farming with the tractors.
Jenna had lots of fun with Shelby's new toys too.
Tomorrow we go for a doctor's visit to see how much Shelby has grown and to get vaccinations.
