Progress!

The projects going on around the house now are not near as exciting as the framing was.  I can tell that progress is being made every day though.  Lately, we have had visits from the plumber, electrician, HVAC crew, and concrete.  I know all this progress is just as important as the framing, but it is much harder to take good pictures.

This is the utility room / garage / attic stairs area.
This is the washer plumbing hook-up.
Basement bath plumbing and some of the HVAC
The new plumbing for the basment bathroom, kitchen drain and washing machine!
The new waste water line goes around the existing basement.  It's not ideal, but I am just thrilled that I no longer have a "catch bucket" sitting in the basement that has to be pumped!
We got conrete finished for the front porch.  Behind that black plastic is our front door.
We also poured a concrete pad outside the back patio door at the walk-out.
Later this week we are to get garage doors.  Next week should bring additional progress as I beleive they will start the insulation and de-siding/re-siding and the siding of the new part.

Thanksgiving

This year we spent Thanksgiving with the Hofmann Family.  I think this is the second Thanksgiving we have all spent together.  Angel was the host of this year's festivities.  After a wonderful meal, the kids (big and little) went outside and played.

How many Hofmanns can you put in a leaf pile?

A good time was had by all.  We have many blessings to be thankful for this year!

Framing - Day 9

Today we ended the framing process.  The windows and doors are all installed.  They finished up the pantry wall and the shelf area in the living room.  I didn't get pictures, because it was mostly dark when I got home.  Nonetheless, framing is done.

Now, on to heating/cooling, electrical, plumbing, insulation and drywall!

Funny Friday Foto

With the addition going on the house, the back porch (where we left our coats and shoes) is gone.  Meanwhile, the shoes and coat have been collecting in the living room.  There is just something about little girls that makes them love to tromp around in daddy's boots.
Monkey see and monkey do posing for the camera!

Framing Days 7 & 8

Days 7 & 8 I got home after dark, so pictures are combined onto one post.  On day 7 they got the remaining sheeting up, finished the dormers, and got the house wrapped.
They got the stairs up into the old basement finished and the stairs into the house from the garage built.  They re-arraged where the door was, given some input from our builder and Lance.
Day 8 we had botht the framing crew and the roofing crew.  We got a portion of our windows intalled and the majority of the roof!
Master bedroom window.
The new roof (with it's first frost).
It's hard to see, but the roofer's have just a little more work to do in the joint between house and addition.

Preschool Pictures

The daycare/preschool had a local photographer come in and take picture of the kids at Shakamak State Park.  These are pictures of the pictures, so the one I am sharing are not the best quality, but I thought I would share the cuteness anyway!

Framing - Day 6

The framing crew didn't come on Monday.  The weather was nasty and the wind was harsh, but they were back today.  I love seeing progress!

Today we got our dormers built and more of the roof sheeting put up.
There are stairs to go up to the above garage storage area!
Dormers from upstairs.  The rest of the upstairs floor was set.
Roof line between existing house and addition was built and covered with sheeting.
More stuff was added to the yard for tomorrow and the rest of the week.  Those are the basement and garage walk through door and the roofing shingles.

If all goes as planned and the weather continues to cooperate, we should "pin" tight with a shingled roof by the end of the week!!!!!!

Framing - Day 5

Friday we got rafters!  They also put almost half of the structure wood on the roof, too!
A road-side view.
This is what will be our new master bedroom.
The back side
The back side of the garage (missing just a little structure wood).

The "upstairs" of the garage.  We have storage rafters so we can use it for
storage or living space if we ever desire.
The spot where the dormer will go.
My new & improved staircase.  No more rickety stairs!!!!!
The storage area under the stairs!

Prayer

Jenna has been leading us in the blessing of our food.  I think it's adorable...so I thought I would share.

Pledge

Pre-school has taught Jenna many things. She has been doing very well. I am very proud of her. One of the many things she has learned is the Pledge of Allegiance. She cannot enuciate all the words, but she seems to say all the words in the correct order when she says it.

Show and Tell - The letter "D, d"

From time to time the preschool has show-and-tell day.  It is usually themed around whatever they are working on in the classroom.  Jenna came home with a note earlier this week stating that she needed to bring something to "show-and-tell" her class that started with Dd.  That makes a momma stop and think, what starts with the letter "d".  Geesh, it's harder than one might think...Doll...Dora book...dozer....ummmm..... ummmmm....geesh what else starts with d?  DUMP TRUCK!!!!!
Shelby, though she is not part of the preschool class, insisted on taking her dump truck, too.

Framing - Day 4

Day 4 they got most of the structure wood up.  There was just a little bit missing at the tops of the garage.

They even got started on the rafters (over the master bedroom).
The picture below is where the new main entry to the house will be.

They are supposed to finish setting rafters today (friday) and plan to be done framing by Tuesday!

Framing Day 3 was quite a bit of above ground progress.
The garage was fully framed!

Progress is easy to see at this point!

Framing - Day 2

Tuesday was day 2 of framing.  They did some additional work in the basement, finished setting the floor joices and laid sub-floor.

They also built the stair well to the basement!
