Daycare & Preschool Field Trip

Monday was a field trip day for the Learn A Lot kids. They got to go on a hayride.

They got their faces
They got their faces painted. Shelby was a witch.
They got to pick out their own pumpkins, then paint them.

The kids all seem to have a very good time. They were worn out by time they got home.

The Girls go to the Dentist

Tuesday the Hofmann Girls made a trip to the dentist. Yhis was Jenna's third trip and Shelby's first.

Jenna walked into the X-Ray room, where I was not allowed due to being pregnant. I went to my seat and she then went to hers. Shelby sat with me for a little while, Jenna finished up and the took Shelby. Doc came in and said Jenna's mouth looked great. All her perminant teeth were visible on x-ray, she has three loose teeth, and no cavities!

He checked my teeth and said everything looked great!

I went into Shelby's room and she was getting ready to get polished up.

She did excellent with her fluoride treatment.
Of course, she was under close supervision, by her sister, the expert.

Kaity's 11th Birthday

On Sunday, we celebrated our oldest niece's birthday.  The theme for this years party was The Boxcar Children.

The kids had a scavenger hunt for apples in the back yard.
Busy hunting apples.
Jenna was busy hunting.
Kaity's cake
blowing out the candles.
Toby was being a ham sitting on the floor in the garage.
Uncle Ivan wanted to take Toby out to see the equipment.

The girls had a good time pulling the air horn.
.

It was a good time with family. It is amazing to watch a someone that was a few months old when I met her uncle transform into such a great young lady!

3 on 3

On October 14 we had the opportunity to have an ultrasound to peek in on B4. This was our first time to see this baby. The ultrasound tech was really nice as Lance and I were trying to play name that body part. I told them both I thought it was easier than times past, as I could actually tell what I was looking at. She informed us that the baby was more than 20 weeks, because the brain stem, cerebellum, and other organs were more developed than a 20 weeker would be.
The baby was completely healthy and was weighing approximately 1 pound and 5 ounces.  They estimated it as a 23 weeker.
Regardless, the baby was perfect with all 10 fingers and all 10 toes.

We were asked if we wanted to find out the gender of the baby. We did because we just wanted to know. This baby will even up the score in our household. This baby is a boy!

Mommy School

Shakamak has parent teacher conferences on Thursday, fall break on Friday & Monday. With three days of no school, Jenna was itching for school.  Jenna begged me to have school on Saturday. I explained that I would, but that this was Mommy's version of school and it might not be exactly like Mrs. Boyd or Mrs. Anita have school.  I told them we would take breaks for Toby and laundry.

We started with a book which explained what we would have for breakfast.
While I made pancakes, they had "table time".

Then we had rug time to read books.

We stopped to fold a load of laundry and then had craft time.

Then it was time for recess, lunch, and down time.
We then worked on writing skills.
I have been saving plastic lids and caps for Carla and Rajean before that to make benches for thei schools. It came in handy to have 40+ milk and water bottle caps in inventory!  The caps were used for math and manipalutives as well as patterns.

Shelby was getting restless, so I let her work in a salt tray.

The girls had a blast, but by 4 pm we were all done with school. They asked if we could do it again sometime.  I agreed.  I had several good ideas given to me by several folks, the best being from my niece Kaity.  I foresee a day featuring astronauts, maps, and space in the near future!

Parent Teacher Conference

Jenna has really been enjoying school.  She has so much enthusiasm to learn and show us what she has been learning each day. We have been working on word wheels. For those who don't know what a word wheel is I took a picture of tonight's wheel.

Most wheels have focused on a family of words, such as -at.  Where you see the letter e, there will be various letters like r, f, b, m, c, h, p then Jenna comes up with rat, fat, bat, mat, cat, hat, pat.  This word wheel is short vowel sounds, which is one of the harder ones for me.

We had parent teacher conferences tonight.  Jenna got her first report card which had all M's an WO's. M is mastering and WO is work on. She has two skills she needs to work on-"following rules & procedures"and "does not interrupt."  I am not surprised at either!  She had an excellent report from the teacher that said she was one of the 4 or 5 advanced learners, readers, and mathematicians.  We are definitely proud of our Jenna May.
