Fairs

Last week was fair week for both Clay and Sullivan Counties. Lance and I both work in Clay and Sullivan Counties with our jobs. Needless to say, we had a busy week working the fairs for our jobs and enjoying them with our kiddos.  Of course we had to go visit the livestock barns.

 Jenna loved the cows!
The girls and I visited the shhep at Sullivan County.  Jenna pet it while Shelby cried.
Jenna has her daddy wrapped around her little finger.  Daddy purchased Jenna her very own John Deere hat at Sullivan fair.  It was a good week, but I am glad the fairs here are over for another year.

Does eating sweet corn make a little girl extra sweet?

Clay City Fair

Clay City Fair was last week.  Lance, the kids and I made it out Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights.  Wednesday was the parade.  We caught the tail end of it, but the BrazilTimes caught the majority of it - including Shelby!
Jenna refused to play nice, so she got cropped out!  She was picture number 21 if you follow the link tied to the Brazil Times above.

As you might be able to tell from the picture, instead of using a stroller for the fair, we used the John Deere wagon.  The girls did pretty well riding along and sitting in the wagon.  Last year, Jenna wanted absolutely nothing to do with the livestock at the fair.  This year, Jenna and Shelby were amused by the animals.  Jenna mooed at the cows, snorted at the pigs, and baaaed at the sheep.

Saturday night we went out and played on the playground at the park, listened to a live band sing in the gazebo and watched the fireworks.  The fireworks started at 10:30 and Jenna and Shelby were still wide awake for the show.  Jenna watched for a little bit and I got her ewwwing and awwwing.  Then she buried her head in my chest.  Shelby sat with Lance and clapped for the light display.

The fair made for a busy week, but we had a good time got to visit with a lot of our "neighbors".

Hofmann Family Update

There are some song lyrics that really hit home right now....

My, oh my
Look how the time flies
Look how the world changes
in the blink of an eye
My, oh my
Look how the years have flown
Turnin around before you know it
Up and gone
Oh my, oh my, oh my
          -The Wreckers

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I have blogged... my oh my look how the time flies!

Jenna's speech is growing by leaps and bounds.  She is really starting to form phrases into sentences and expand her vocabulary.  We have been working on potty training and have been having pretty good luck with it.  Tonight, she pottied 4 times from 6 to 9:00 tonight.  Her panties we put on at 6 tonight stayed dry until bedtime!  We have definately been making progress!

Shelby started walking on June 30th.  Now she walks anywhere she wants, but sometimes crawls, because it is still a faster means of travel.  She has her two bottom teeth and one upper tooth.  She is still on toddler formula, but is actually starting to digest whole milk in small doses...instead of throwing it back up!  She is starting to form a few more words and gets very vocal when she decides she wants something.

Lance & I have been working our usual jobs.  In our time off, we have done several little projects around the house.  We purchased and installed a new mailbox.  I spent a weekend doing my spring cleaning aka washing all the windows, moving the furniture, and cleaning underneath it.  We moved the office out of Shelby's room and into the basement.  Last weekend I cleaned out the 10 file cabinet drawers upstairs and condensed them into 8 downstairs.  We pitched a lot of OLD paperwork and found several documents that had been MIA for a while.  We have been working on the book shelf in hopes of getting it out of Jenna's room.  It seems like there is always some project to do around here.

As for the kitties, there are still 8.  Socks and Boots are the friendliest Pete and Bandit are a little more shy.  They are very playful and are very good with the kids...even when the kids aren't nice to them.
