Build-A-Bear

Lance and I started something when we took our vacation to Nashville in 2009.  We went to the Opry Mill Mall and made our un-born baby (Jenna) a Build-A-Bear.  We named him Nash  because he was "born" in Nashville.

Then when Shelby came around we took Jenna into Build-A-Bear and then Evan was "born".  The Evan was "born" in Evansville over Memorial Day weekend within a couple days of Shelby's birth.

Therefore, we thought it only be fitting that the new baby get his own Build-A-Bear.  Today, we welcome Boomer to our family.

Boomer, can you guess where he is from?  Nash = Nashville, Evan = Evansville,  Boomer = .....

Don't ask where his name was originated, as we decided we didn't want him named Bloom nor Hoosier, because he was "born" in Bloomington.  So we named him Boomer.

When it was raining this morning and we couldn't do what we had planned, I asked Lance if we could go to Bloomington as a family.  I wanted to go to Build-A-Bear and Target, two things that are not available in Terre Haute.  So we headed over to Bloomington for the afternoon.

The girls each gave Boomer a heart, a hug, then a bath.

Daddy even got in and was in on the "cleaning"fun.
Our last stop was Menards as we were wanting to pick up some gutter downspout protectors.  The birds have been driving us crazy building nests in the gutters.  Meanwhile, Lance found a patio storage box and bench.
This is exactly what I have been looking for to put out on the back patio for toys and seating! I am stoked!  We had a wonderful family day and got a few more things taken care of before baby boy joins us!

4th of July

We had a nice 4th of July holiday.  Lance and I both had the day off.  He took Shelby over to Papaw Hofmann's house to play with the puppy and Jenna said she didn't want to go.  Then she was upset she didn't get to.  So, we had a photo shoot!

I thought she took some pretty cute pictures in her red, white and blue.

Lance got a text from some friends from Purdue.  They were at I-70 at Brazil.  Lance invited Jonathan, Melissa, and Jayna Althoff over.   Lance had gotten some straw for our dirt-scaping project.  He built them such that they could be climbed.  The girls (all three) thought it was wonderful!  (Jayna in red, Jenna in white).  Jayna is right at a year older than Jenna.
After the Althoff's headed south we took off and headed north to Brazil to see the fireworks.
Lance left a bale of straw in the truck for the girls to sit on.  They were amused by the fireworks!

Shelby was ooohhh'ing and awwww'ing!

She was amused by the fireworks!
We figured this is the first year she has really seen fireworks.  Due to the drought in 2012 there were no fireworks at Brazil or Clay City last year.  We sat in our usual spot at the Clay County Soil and Water Conservation Office parking lot.  We met up with Ivan, Angel, Kaity, and Kent.

Other than the 11pm bedtime, it was a wonderful day!

Eat, Sleep, Poop....

I am sure we have all heard the summary of what babies do after they are born....they eat, sleep, and poop...but not necessarily in that order.

Well, Lance and I have this thing about having babies.  It's an eat, sleep, poop, but not necessarily in that order kinda thing.  Over a six month timeframe with each pregnancy we have moved, one of us has changed jobs, and we have a baby, but not necessarily in that order.

Pregnancy 1:  We had baby Jenna, 10 days later we bought our home on Country Place Drive in Newburgh, and Lance finished his job with Precision Ag Equipment and went to work for Vincennes Tractor Incorporated.  This all happenend between February 3 and July 5, 2008.

Pregnancy 2:  Christa accepted a job with Farm Credit, we had baby Shelby, Christa left her job with the University of Kentucky and started her job with Farm Credit then we moved to our farm in Clay City.  This all happened between May 20 and November 20, 2009.

Pregnancy 3:  We did a major addition onto our house in Clay City, Lance left his job with Vincennes Tractor, Incorporated and started his job with Wright Implement.  We have baby #3.  Timeframe for this round February (house complete) to July (exact date still to be determined) 2013.

We think it is kinda interesting that we have this trend with pregnancy.  Just incase you are wondering...I threatened told Lance that if we were ever to get pregnant again that I am going to be a stay at home mom, he is moving to the basement bedroom!

37 Weeks - Full Term!

We have offically made it full-term with this pregnancy!  I had another doctor's appointment to check in on Baby Brother Monday. He again had a strong heartbeat at 130 bpm. Swelling has gotten way worse!  The nurse told me I had lost my ankles.  I told her I had also lost my wedding bands too.  My my blood pressure was still at an acceptable level.

How far along: 37 weeks
Have you started to show yet: If you miss I am pregnant now, you must not be very observant...
Total weight gain/loss: From my first appointment to today, I am +15 pounds.
Belly Button in or out? there is no where left for lint to hide...
Rings on/off: I had to give them up :(
Size of Baby: About 20 inches and estimated at 6.5 pounds! He should be gaining an ounce a day.
Weird Changes: everything is swelling
Sleep: Insomnia is starting to kick in.
Best moment this week: Baby shower to celebrate Baby Boy Hofmann
Movement: He is getting VERY strong.
Stretch marks? I have noticed 2 and they are growing
Food cravings: stomach has no capacity, nothing sounds good anymore.
Food aversions: salty stuff
Gender prediction: The ultrasound revealed external genitalia
What I miss: rolling over in my sleep without waking up, reaching my feet, ankles, energy
What I am looking forward to: Meeting this little guy!
Progress toward meeting baby:  The hospital bags are in the car.  I was checked at this appointment and have started to make progress, but nothing too exciting or really noteworthy.

Random Facts:  If baby boy were born today, we would have the Hofmann boys born on even days and the Hofmann Girls born on odd days.  Our children would have birthdays on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

We have a 3 theme regardless:  3 kids in 2013 while both Lance and I are 30 years old.

Baby Shower

Lance, the girls, and I have been attending the Clay City Church of Christ for well over a year.  We are one of the youngest couples there, but have both grown as Christians since we have been attending.  I enjoy the fact that they have adult Sunday School classes, even during Vacation Bible School.  As with most protestant churches, we all sit in the same spot every Sunday.  Willis and Darinda Dyer sit behind us.  One Sunday Darinda told us that the congregation really wanted to throw us a baby shower.  Since this baby was a boy, we needed some non-pink accessories for our child/home.  I was absolutely floored.  I didn't know how to respond.  I had my baby shower, when I was pregnant with Jenna.  As Lance and Darinda both pointed out, the church family didn't know us at that point and this was something that they really wanted to do.  So...we had another baby shower.
Darinda and Ruby put it all together for 4 pm on Sunday, June 30 in the preschool classroom at church.

The snacks were sugar cookies made by a lady in the congregation, ice cream, pretzels, and drinks.
One of the early pictures of the present table.
One of the presents had a monkey (hooded bath towel) sticking out the top!
Ruby put together several games.  This is when the ladies were playing the "price is right" and guess that baby food while enjoying snacks.
I opened presents.  Our little guy has lots of very nice outfits.  The one below was from his Aunt Angel, Uncle Ivan, Kaity and Kent.  It was a set of carhartt bibbed overalls and onesie as well as a couple other outfits.
A few of the families got the girls "big sister" gifts.
 A cute monkey blanket.

Aunt Carla got a picture of me with my girls.  They were getting tired and starting to suck thumbs and twirl hair.
After the party, there was an amazing full rainbow in view from the parking lot at the church.
Lance and I went through all the presents, wrote on all the cards, and organized the loot.  I decided I wanted some pictures of the generosity.
