Family Time

Mawmaw and Poppy Rentchler watched the kids while we goofed off Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  Saturday evening we went to pick up the kids and to celebrate Carla's birthday.  We had our annual chili and corn dogs along with a homemade ice cream cake.

Afterwards we hung out and had some family time!

Aunt Christa was asked to play horsey with Ciara, then with both Ciara and Jenna!

Fun times were had by all.  Happy Birthday Carla!

French Lick

I work for Farm Credit Services of Mid-America.  We loan farmers money for operating expenses, equipment, livestock, buildings, real estate, and many other things.  We also lend rural residents money for home loans.  I work in a region that covers all SW Indiana, from Terre Haute to Corydon, diagonally.  We have been a smaller region.  My boss made some lofty goals for our region and we met them.  As a reward, all the employees in the region, along with their spouse, were treated to an over-night stay at the French Lick Resort.

Friday night I picked up Lance at Vincennes Tractor and dropped off the kids with Poppy Bob.  We headed to the French Lick Winery for wine tasting and dinner with my colleagues.

Saturday was free time.  We started with an awesome breakfast.  We then took a tour of our hotel and then a tour of the West Baden Springs Hotel.
The West Baden Springs Hotel has a giant dome!
It is a beautiful hotel on the inside.
The hotel had beautiful floors.  Mosaic tile floors made in beautiful patterns.

This picture is sideways, but this gal was playing the harp.  Her music was heavenly!

Ever wonder how French Lick got its name?  We learned the answer to that question this weekend.  The town was settled by the French.  The town has sulfur water and the town is know for its salt licks.  Hence it was dubbed French Lick.

We had a nice time and a good overnight away from home and the kiddos.  This was the first time we had both been away from the kids at the same time since last year February.  Thanks Mawmaw Jo and Poppy Bob for watching our kiddos!

The cake - brown cake, per Jenna's request.

Minnie shirt and matching bow from Aunt Carla, Uncle Matt, Ciara & Mattison.

Presents from Mawmaw & Poppy Rentchler

We had a very nice time and were glad that most of the family was able to make it.  Jenna is still talking about the party and ask if we would put candles in the left-over cake we had for dessert tonight!  When I told her no, she started singing to herself.  She is such a funny little girl.  Thank you for all who helped us celebrate and make the day special!

Celebrating Jenna's Birthday

We celebrated Jenna's birthday on Friday evening.  Mommy didn't make a cake, because none of us are huge cake fans.  So I made cookies instead.  Mommy put the candles in the cookie and Mommy, Daddy, and Jenna sang.  She blew out all three candles the first try!
Jenna asked for a second cookie and expected candle and singing just like the first time.  So we lit the candles and sang again before her second cookie.
Then she asked if she could have a third cookie.  I told her no candles and no song but she could have another cookie and she almost cried.  So on her third birthday she blew out three candles three times and got sang to multiple times.
 Then she got her presents.....
including a Thomas movie and Curious George movie....
 a Minnie Mouse shirt....
 a couple Barbies....
 a John Deere shirt...
 and John Deere equipment....
 from Mommy, Daddy, and Shelby.

The babysitter got Jenna a pair of purple Dora pjs that she wore last night, as well as a Dora book.
