Framing - Day 4

Day 4 they got most of the structure wood up.  There was just a little bit missing at the tops of the garage.

They even got started on the rafters (over the master bedroom).
The picture below is where the new main entry to the house will be.

They are supposed to finish setting rafters today (friday) and plan to be done framing by Tuesday!

Framing - Day 3

Framing Day 3 was quite a bit of above ground progress.
The garage was fully framed!
This is the hole for picture window in the new great room
 The new master bedroom
Progress is easy to see at this point!

Framing - Day 2

Tuesday was day 2 of framing.  They did some additional work in the basement, finished setting the floor joices and laid sub-floor.

They also built the stair well to the basement!

Dirt work and Day 1 of Framing

I didn't get many good pictures of the dirt work loaded, because it was getting dark and I had supper ready when the guys were finishing up.
fill in behind the gargage (above and below)
Fill in behind the wing wall
The hill sloping down (the masterpiece of the dirt moving!)
Monday morning the framing crew was there a few minutes before 7:00.  We were pleased with the work they got done!  Below is the stairwell to go to the basement.
Lance and Shelby in the basement bedroom
Lance is in the closet!  The bathroom is off to the side and then the "utility" room and entrance to old basement.
They also got 2/3 of the floor joices set before quitting time.
It will be neat to see what they get done on day 2.  They were at the house at 7:00 am to get going again!

Chaos

Starting this addition construction process has unleashed chaos among the Hofmann house. All was going fine and dandy....until the last concrete truck came to finish up the garage floor.  That truck caught our electric line and pulled it off the house.  The electric backfed into the house, which is the equivalence of the surge like getting struck by lightening.  The surge fried our microwave, oven, internet router, Wii, DVD player, indoor TV antenna.  This has meant the chaos beyond the typical everything being out of place and sandy mud everywhere.

Basically, there was not a lot of "progress" made last week.  They finished up the concrete and have been measuring for the wood package and waiting for the concrete to cure.  Saturday, Lance and Stanley fell the last 2 of the trees we are losing for the project.  The oak and cedar were in the way for the garage.
Saturday the weather was nasty to work outside, so the guys waited until Sunday to start backfilling.  They cut the mound of dirt in half!
Friday, the first of the wood package started to arrive.  We have 2 semi loads of wood sitting around the yard.  Good thing is the framing crew was at the house before I left this morning at 7am!
I am sure when I get home tonight there will be a notciable difference around there!  I cannot wait!
