Valentine's Day

Lance was a perfect gentleman on Valentine's Day.  I got home and had flowers waiting on me.  I got a beautiful vase of red carnations and a double lilly.
However, this year I had to share my Valentine.  Daddy got both of his girls a balloon.  I don't know which one of the girls have had more fun with the balloons.  Shelby loves smacking at the balloon while Jenna loves running around with the balloon.

No worries, Mommy got her Valentines something too.  Daddy & Jenna each got their own box of Girl Scout cookies.  We had a very nice Valentine evening!

Miss Shelby - 8 months

I took these pictures of Shelby on her actual 8 month birthday, but Jenna'a actual second birthday got them shadowed over.  Miss Shelby is getting so big and getting so much personality.  Here is a picture of her in her John Deere bibs, John Deere hat and John Deere onesie alongside with Evan.

Shelby has been rolling all over the place.  Saturday morning she was sitting up in her crib.  She has figured out how to get herself from her belly to her back to sitting on her behind.  She has even started getting from her bottom to crawling position.  We are in our last moments of having an immoble little girl.

Jenna's Hofmann Party

Sunday Evening we had the Hofmann family over to celebrate Jenna's second birthday.  We had postponed it due to Lance going to Florida the weekend before.  After we finished eating dinner, we opened presents.

After she finished opening her presents she went into the kitchen and told me "Happy, Happy" and pointed to her cake.  I got out the ice cream and rounded up the crew.  She wanted cake, but she wanted NOTHING to do with the burning candles.  Daddy and Cousin Kaity helped her blow out her candles.
She started by eating all her icing, then the chocolate cake (it was a swirl cake) and barely touched the white cake!
Of course, she had to wear some icing.

After presents, cake and ice cream, the kids played with each other and toys.  The adults enjoyed a little time together as well.  All in all I would say we had a very nice time.

Johnny Tractor

I should preface this story saying that Jenna's two favorite books right now are Johnny Tractor and Corey Combine.  The books are shaped like a tractor and combine, respectively.

Friday night Lance asked Jenna if she wanted to ride in Johnny Tractor on Saturday.  She nodded yes.  We heard the roaring motors pull in the farm lot, Jenna got very excited.  She stood in the bay window and watched the guys get to work, spreading lime.

 There's Johnny Tractor!
Poppy H, came over to the window and said hi.
The next round Jenna put her shoes and coat on and went out and rode with Daddy while he spread lime.  When Ivan would dump the lime into the spreader cart, Jenna would say "ugght ooooo."  Then he would back away and get another scoop and she would tell him "bye bye."  Lance said it was adorable!

Sunday, when asked if she rode in Johnny Tractor, she would say no "Ombine!"  She was convinced she was riding in a combine.

Jenna's 2nd Birthday

Thursday, February 3, 2011 Jenna turned 2 years old.  She brought me the camera and said cheese, so I snapped several pictures of her on her birthday!
After supper, we had some birthday brownies.  I asked her if she wanted to blow out the candles, she told me yes.  However, when Daddy lit the candles, she didn't seem very sure of herself.  Mommy ended up blowing them out for her.
Once again she handed me the camera and said "cheese".

God works in mysterious ways.  Last year, I took a vacation day and spent the day with Jenna.  She was in the middle of teething and was not a lot of fun.  I wanted to take off and spend her second birthday with her, but don't have a lot of extra vacation days, since I am in a new job.  The way it turned out, the snow and ice we got on Monday and Tuesday nights turned Sullivan County into a state of emergency.  Since the county was a state of emergency the office was closed.  Therefore, I stayed home with the girls.  We played with finger paints (from Aunt Carla), colored in a Pooh coloring book, played in the ball pit in the basement.  Of course we had a good day together.  God does work in mysterious ways.
