The Colt

I never really thought my parents were "horse" people.  However, lately they have started adding a few "horses" to their farm.  Dad owned a pony when I was in high school.  He brought home this UGLY green antique tractor, a Massey Harris 'Pony'.  It was a misfit on the farm for multiple reasons:  it was green and should be red (no really, it was painted red when it was new from the factory).  It was one of the last tractors I worked with him to restore, but it found a different farm to call home.

Mom and Dad have decided they want to own all four horses made by Massey Harris: the Colt, Mustang, Pacer and Pony.  Over the winter he purchased this gem.... a Massey Harris Colt.

So to be cute, I put a "my Grandpa drives Massey Harris" bib on Toby.
This action inspired several photos.
I love this picture of Toby and Poppy.
The girls had to go out and see the tractor, too!
It was a quick visit, but we really enjoyed having house guests and the "new" "horse" overnight!

An Evening Outside

Friday night it was 73 degrees when I picked up the kids from daycare. So I called Lance and ask if he wanted to meet us for a pizza and park night.

Jenna was loving her car window being down!
We made a quick stop by home and got some drinks. We got to the park and the girls went running. We have a lot of cabin fever to burn off!

Toby got to swing in a real swing for the first time. He really had fun.

Shelby took off up the tornado slide.

She had a ball going down and climbing up to slide down again.

Jenna climbed up the BIG straight slide.
And slid down several times.
But mostly they had fun playing with all the other kids.  There were at least 4 other kids there the entire time we were there.

Lance showed up a little later with pizza, so we ate. The kids inhaled one slice and back to the playground they went. It was a beautiful evening outside and a wonderful evening to spend together outside.

Toby at 8 Months

Toby is now 8 months old.  He is a few ounces shy of 20 pounds.  He is a happy baby.  He has his first 2 teeth.  They are both bottom teeth.  He has been rolling from belly to back to belly to back and belly to get anywhere he wants to go.  He doesn't go more than about 5 feet before rolling back towards his starting point.

He has started showing love.  I have been the recipient of several mega kisses and multiple hugs.  He is such a sweet, loving little guy.

Lance and Stanley took him to Riley for his follow up appointment, today.  Dr. Jalou said he sounded 90% better and is happy with the way his breathing sounds.  Her explanation of the bronchoscopy is that he had 3 different strains of bacteria growing in his lungs and the medicine that they gave him was the strongest one that he could be given without hospital observation.  It was part of the Sulfa family.  Turns out Toby is allergic to the Sulfa drugs.  Evidently, his Grandma Hofmann and his Great Grandpa Gumbel suffer(ed) from the same allergy. Regardless, Dr. Jalou said he received enough of the medicine to knock out the infection!

Toby's smile is more of an open mouth :)

Visiting with Family

Sunday afternoon we decided to stp by and see Lance's grandpa and grandma. It was a nice visit and the girls enjoyed showing great-grandpa and great-grandma all the things they have learned at preschool.  I think they were fully entertained, too!

This was the first time Toby had been to visit, as we were scared of sharing any harmful germs with them. Great-grandpa Benny couldn't believe how heavy Toby was, but held him 3 different times!  It was a good visit, we need to be better about making time to go see them.

Jenna's Birthday Party

One cold snowy winter day we watched the new Tinkerbell movie, Secret of the Wings.  It is about Tinkerbell and her sister Periwinkle.  Jenna decided she wanted a Tinkerbell party and I happened to be able to find a cake that was decorated to match her party theme.  We were originally planning a Sunday afternoon party at our house for all Jenna's grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins to help her celebrate.  However, due to Larry's death, we had to rearrange the party so we could attend the funeral visitation.  So, the Hofmann family came over and visited Saturday afternoon.

Jenna loved her cake!
Her reaction to her Barbie from Grandpa and Grandma Hofmann was precious!
Some of her party guests
Opening her books, stamps, and paper from Ivan, Angel, Kaity, and Kent.

We got up Sunday morning and headed down to mom and dads to have cake and ice cream before heading to the funeral home.  We still had Tinkerbell and Periwinkle on the cake!

Opening her card and scooter from Mawmaw and Poppy
Ciara showing her everything fun from her new My Little Ponies.

It wasn't the party Mommy had planned for her, but we made the best of it!
