Photo Shoot

The reason for the photo shoot was my cousin Nick was in town (from Fort Wayne) to visit. My mom thought we should get all the six Gumbel Great-Granddaughters together to get a picture. As it turns out my cousin James' two girls didn't end up making it, so it ended up being a picture of the four girls Alyssa & Kayla (in the back L to R), Jenna and Ciara. Trying to get 4 little girls to cooperate ended up being quite the challenge

Threshermans 2009

Jenna went to the doctor on Friday morning. Friday afternoon, she was in very good spirits, so we went out to Thresherman's Park to the flea market. We met up with Grammy and Papaw after doing some shopping. Jenna got to go on her very first tractor ride.
We went home Friday night to have dinner with Daddy and to sleep in our own beds. Saturday morning it was raining so we waited until 11 to go out to Thresherman's. The parade was at 2 pm.

Lance sat in the viewing area and got pictures of some of my Dad's tractors.

After we got through the parade, we played tractor games. Lance and I came in first place in the blind fold obsticle course. I drove the tractor while Lance told me to weave left and right through the obsticle course. We had the fastest time (even after I drove over a cone).
We enjoyed visiting with the camping group and the Rentchler family over the weekend.

6 Month Dr Appointment

Jenna is 10 days shy of 6 months old. Today we went to the doctor for check-up and the next round of vaccinations. Jenna weighted in at 12lbs 3 oz and was 25 inches. This was only a one pound gain and a half inch growth in 2 months. He seemed a little concered, until I told him "the rest of the story".

This week has been a little trying. Lance picked Jenna up from the babysitters on Monday evening (because I had to work late). Her face and scalp were covered in heat rash and she was running a low grade fever. Tuesday she was still running a 100.5 temp and the heat rash spread across her chest and back. She went to work with me and only ate and slept, and really didn't eat much. The heat rash spread to each extremity. Finally, Thursday afternoon, the fever let up and the rash disappeared.

We figure it is just teeth working their way through the gums. I can see both the center bottom teeth, but we are still a good way from them erupting. Needless to say Jenna is not too cracked up about spoons right now and she is gumming everything she can get into her mouth.

I told the doctor that Lance and I both thought she had lost weight this week, due to the fever and rash and he said he wasn't surprised.

Taking a Stand

Jenna has been growing by leaps and bounds. I never cease to be amazed by her. She has liked to stand for a good while now. Last weekend I decided to see how much of Jenna standing was Mommy or Dadddy helping her versus how much was Jenna. I stood her up next to the couch and she stood there for a good 5 minutes before she fell backwards (into my arms, of course). Then I let her stand again, this time taking a video of it. I thought I would share. Sorry she is sideways for the first half. It didn't dawn on me until half way through that it would be sideways for the blog.

This week was Warrick County's fair. Unfortunately, we didn't make it out there this year. I have been on the road quite a bit for work and Lance worked at Sullivan's fair a couple nights for his work and the week just disappeard on us. Hopefully, we will make it out to Vanderburgh's fair and Jenna will get to see the animals.

John Deere

On Monday, Lance started a new job. He was hired by Vincennes John Deere to sell equipment (ag equipment, lawn mowers, and Stihl). He has been going through training sessions this week.
